Question:
"If
I make a donation to The Bridge of Books Foundation, is it tax-deductible?"
Answer: Yes. The
Bridge of Books Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Our
taxpayer ID number is 43-2080020. You will receive a receipt for your
tax records.
Question:
"Where does the money I donate go to?"
Answer: The Bridge
of Books does everything possible to keep overhead costs to a minimum.
We are an all volunteer organization. Our storage space is donated by Red Bank Self-Storage, Red Bank, New Jersey. We are therefore able to focus spending funds
on books for children.
Question:
"Can I donate books?"
Answer: Absolutely!
BoB loves receiving both new and used children's booksit's that
much quicker that we get them to children.
Question:
"Who gets the books?"
Answer:
Children all across New Jersey who are at-risk. By this,
we mean children in homeless shelters, foster care, underfunded schools,
neighborhood community centers in under-served areas; kids who would
not otherwise have adequate access to books.
Question:
"Can I donate books for adults?"
Answer: We only provide
books to children-those up to the age of 18. If you have adult books
you would like to donate, we recommend contacting your local library
or senior center.
Question:
"I want to help out, but I don't know how. What I can do?"
Answer: We always
need help. We need financial donations. We need books. We need people
to come and help us sort the books into age categories. We need folks
to help us deliver books to the children. We need people to organize book drives through their schools, churches and/or community organizations. If you have the time---we'd
love to have you volunteer!
Question:
"I want to buy some books for The Bridge of Books Foundation. Any
suggestions?"
Answer: We love
receiving both new and used books. Garage sales, second hand stores and
used bookstores are a great place to buy used books. New books are wonderful
and very special for children to receive. Children like to read stories they
can relate to, so we encourage culturally and ethnically diverse books.
Also, some favorites include Dr. Seuss, Harry Potter, and books about
dinosaurs and animals.
